Cloud-Native Design Patterns
A chaptered guide to designing cloud-native APIs โ patterns, anti-patterns, and runnable examples in Spring Boot, Quarkus, .NET, Python, C++, and Go.
What this tutorial is
A chapter-based companion to the Designing Cloud-Native APIs deck series. Each section of the decks becomes a chapter; the code is shown for Spring Boot, Quarkus, .NET, Python, C++, and Go behind a single set of tabs, so you read the pattern once and see it in the stack you work in. The running examples are the order, payment, inventory, notification, and shipping services, on Docker Engine locally and plain Kubernetes in production.
Setting up
Why patterns matter when an AI writes the first draft, and the example system we use throughout.
Foundations & the system
Cloud-native principles and the building blocks: communications, composition, data, events, streams.
The operational platform
The platform around the system: workflows, management, registry, metadata, observability.
Security & anti-patterns
Security as a first-class layer, and the anti-patterns that undo good architecture.
Deep-dive appendices
Backup material for the questions that always come up: protocols through failure modes, plus a glossary.
